Dbacks 4 5 0
put those brooms back in the closet Dodger fans. the Dodgers dropped the third game to Arizona 4-3
im putting this loss tonight square on Don Mattingly's shoulders. he let this game get away. I know that Clayton Kershaw didnt have his best stuff, but Mattingly let him pitch the 7th inning, when he was clearly tired. also note Mattingly's bizzare lineup decisions, playing the useles Velez.
the Dodgers lost game three and are unable to complete the sweep losing to Arizona 4-3. Kershaw had a 3-2 lead with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th, but gave up a two run homer to Cody Ransom which turned out to be the game winner.
in the top of the first with two outs, Ethier and Kemp single, but Rivera strikes out.
Kershaw was shaky in the first inning. he starts off with a four pitch walk to Roberts and then Johnson hits a two run homer into right field. the game starts very poorly for Kershaw and the Dodgers. Kersh would get through the inning though, Upton lines out, theres a groundout to nady. Young walks, but Montero strikes out.
the Dodgers go down 123 in the second inning off of Kennedy, and Kersh pitches a 123 inning in the bottom of the second, picking up two strikeouts.
a miles double play erases a carroll walk in the third, and Arizona goes down 123 in their bottom half with Johnson and Upton striking out.
the Dodgers go down 123 again in the top of the fourth, with Kemp bizzarly trying to bunt for a hit, and being thrown out. in the bottom half, young singles with 1 out, Montero struck out, Cowgil walked, but Ransom strikes out, ending the frame.
in the top of the 5th, Loney homers into right field the ball nearly landing in the pool, for what seems like his first homer in decades. or in about a month. its now 2-1 Arizona.
Arizona goes down 123 in the bottom of the 5th, and the Dodgers score two in the top of the 6th to take the lead. heres how it happened.....
with 1 out, after Miles fouls off several pitches he singles. Ethier doubles down the right field line scoring Miles, tie game!
after Kemp grounds out, Rivera's line drive base hit to center scores Ethier from second base giving the Dodgers a temporary 3-2 lead. however Rivera is picked off rounding first base to end the inning.
Miles scores in the 6th
the dbacks go down 123 off of Kersh in the 6th, as he had really settled down up until then.
the Dodgers go down 123 in the top of the 7th. Kershaw comes out for the bottom of the 7th with a 3-2 lead. but alas, it was not to be tonight. Kershaw's pitch count was well over 100 by the start of the 7th inning, and I really question Mattingly's decision to let him pitch.
things start off ok, with a Montero fly ball to left. with 1 out, we know the dodgers wont score again, so either we hold onto the lead right here, or we lose. Cowgil singles. then Kershaw hangs a pitch, after all he had made 110 pitches by then, and Cody Ransom hits a monster homerun to left field. giving the Dbacks a 4-3 lead. Kershaw had retired 19 of the last 22 but had made over 105 pitches.
as the ball went over the fence, so did too our hopes of a sweep. this is Ransom's first homer of the year.
I hate you Cody Ransom you fag. I wish you nothing but failures in your future.
mattingly still sits there and does nothing. Boroughs doubles, finally mattingly hookes Kershaw, and makes a double switch. Lindblom replaces kershaw, Gwynn goes into left field, and Rivera is moved to first base.
Lindblom does his job, Roberts flies out, and Johnson grounds out.
David Hernandez pitches a 123 8th inning, striking out Gwynn and Carroll.
Josh Lindblom retires the side in order for the dodgers int he bottom of the 8th inning.
move to the top of the 9th. Arizona closer J.J. Putz on the mound. he strikes out Ethier, and then retires Kemp and Rivera on groundballs to end the game.
JJ Putz records the save for Arizona
once again our inept manager costs us another game. I fully belive if the Dodgers finish the season 76-86, despite some lousy players, it is a direct reflection of Mattingly's poor in game decisions. im sorry to say Mattingly isnt going to work out. Im in favor of his firing in the offyear, and the promotion of third base coach Tim Wallach to manager for 2012. lets make this happen guys!
well it looks like we may be getting a Halladay vacation from winning. even though the Dodgers had a good roadtrip winning 4 out of 6, they return home to face the red hot Phillies who had won 9 in a row before losing today to the giants. Hiroki Kuroda will take the mound for the Dodgers against 14 game winner Roy Halladay.
join us tomorrow, game time will be 710 on PT. well see you then Dodger fans. GO BLUE!
